Morgan Manufacturing Installs Solar Furnace

Electra Products and the Magnetic Specialties Division of Solar Manufacturing recently installed a 12 foot atmosphere furnace at Morgan Manufacturing in Worcester, MA for the purpose of forming steel pipe to act as wire guides on Morgan’s steel wire mills which process wire at rates up to 1000’ per minute. Electra chose the FCS-2000 power supply for it’s silicon carbide element application because of it’s automatic tap switching capability and its near unity power factor operation. The automatic tap switching eliminates the need for Morgan personnel to set tap switches as the elements age and the power factor correction reduces the energy cost of operating the furnace. This furnace increases Morgan’s pipe bending capacity 4 fold allowing Morgan to better meet the demand for replacement wire forms.
